Coaching

When you want 1‑on‑1.

The Job Judo subscription gives you the system. Coaching is for the moments when you want a real person — a Job Judo coach or Sam himself — to review your materials, run a mock interview, or help you decide between two offers.

Self-paced or coached. Both work — for different reasons.

Book coaching when…

  • You have a high-stakes interview coming up at a top-tier company
  • Your Stage-to-Stage (STS) Yield is stuck and you can't see why
  • You're evaluating multiple offers and want help running the Go/No-Go framework
  • You're a senior or recent grad on a compressed timeline
  • You want feedback from someone who has trained dozens of students into top-tier roles

Three ways in.

All sessions are 60 minutes, conducted via Zoom or LinkedIn video. Members of the Job Judo subscription get priority scheduling.

Six common focus areas.

Most coaching sessions concentrate on one of these. Pick the most pressing one for the moment you're in.

01.

Resume + Cover Letter Review

Bring a Job Description and your draft. We tighten the Golden Grid columns, audit Applicant Tracking System (ATS)-friendliness, and ensure every Need-to-Have requirement is addressed using the posting's keywords.

02.

LinkedIn Profile Audit

Headline, headshot, summary, experience bullets, Visumé link, contact info, custom URL. We optimize for inbound Recruiter discovery and Side-Door Sponsor verification.

03.

Career Conversation Prep

Walk through the 35-minute prep template, refine your questionnaire, rehearse the confidentiality opening, and prepare the handoff for asking the Alumnus to forward your application.

04.

Mock Interview

Live mock Screening or Follow-on Interview using your target company's actual job description. Real-time feedback on your Elevator Pitch, ADAC (Acknowledge, Deliver, Amplify, Confirm) structure, and STAR(L) (Situation, Task, Actions, Results, Learnings) responses.

05.

Offer Evaluation

Run multiple offers through the Go/No-Go knockouts and the weighted scoring framework. Identify which is the best fit, which to politely decline (and how), and what to negotiate.

06.

Strategic Guidance

For situations that don't fit a template — late starts, false starts, career pivots, recovering from a bad first job, deciding whether to take an offer at all. Custom advice tailored to your specifics.

Real coaches. Real outcomes.

We don't outsource to a generic career-coaching marketplace. Every Job Judo coach has gone through the methodology themselves.

Sam Williams

Methodology Architect · Co-Founder

Sam personally coaches a limited number of students each quarter. He's the author of the methodology and has trained hundreds of Eller students into top-tier roles at NASA, Goldman Sachs, BCG, P&G, and dozens of other firms. His sessions are best used for high-stakes situations: offer comparisons at major employers, strategic search redesigns, recovering from compounding setbacks. Limited availability — usually 4–6 slots per month.

Certified Job Judo Coaches

Trained directly by Sam · Active practitioners

Our certified coaches have completed the methodology, run their own successful Search Cycles, and have been trained directly by Sam to teach it. They handle the bulk of one-off sessions and Search Cycle Packs. You'll be matched with a coach whose background fits yours — same industry interest, similar academic profile, same target tier. All coaches are bound by the same standards: direct, quantitative, warm, on-message.

Common questions.

Do I need a Job Judo subscription to book coaching?

For one-off sessions: no. Anyone can book. For the Search Cycle Pack and Sam Williams 1:1 sessions: yes — these tiers are for members of the subscription, because they're built around the methodology and assume you're already running it. Members also get priority scheduling on all tiers and reduced rates on additional sessions.

How quickly can I get on a coach's calendar?

Most certified coaches have availability within 5–7 days. Sam Williams 1:1 sessions are limited to 4–6 slots per month and often book 2–3 weeks out. If you have an urgent situation (e.g., an interview in 48 hours), reach out and we'll see what we can do.

What happens if I need to reschedule?

You can reschedule any session up to 24 hours before the start time at no charge. Inside 24 hours, we ask you to use one of the rescheduling credits included in your booking (each session includes one). After that, rescheduling fees apply only if it disrupts the coach's calendar significantly.

Are sessions recorded?

Yes — every session is recorded with your consent and shared with you afterward. Most students rewatch their mock interviews 1–2 times to internalize the feedback. Recordings are private to you and your coach.

Do you offer refunds on coaching?

If you complete a session and feel it didn't deliver value, we'll refund it — same 30-day spirit as the subscription. We'd rather refund than have you tell other people the coaching wasn't worth it.

Can my parent join the session?

For students under 18, yes — and we'd want them on the call for the offer-evaluation and financial sessions. For students 18+, we generally find sessions are more productive 1-on-1, but parents can attend if both you and the coach agree in advance.

Ready for real coaching?

Most career coaching is either too expensive or too generic. Job Judo coaching is on-methodology, run by people who've actually trained students into top-tier roles, and priced so members can use it without flinching.
